We produce custom fiber coupled LED light sources of two kinds:
the pigtail version and the reciprocal version.
These LED light sources provide stable fiber light for fiber optics,
spectroscopy, sensor, medical, biological and other industry applications.
The available wavelengths are from UV to NIR.
Pigtail LED Light Source
In the pigtail LED light source the light from LED is
coupled directly into a multimode fiber. The fiber is
permanently glued to the LED at one end while the other
end is connectorized with standard connector such as SMA.
The pigtail LED light source is connected to external
fiber network by this SMA connector. The pigtail LED
light source is assembled in small convenient package
that includes LED current regulator / driver. The LED
unit comprises standard DC jack connector for connection of DC power supply.

LED peak wavelength is specified at the nominal current,
In most cases the LED nominal operation current is 20mA. The
LED peak wavelength may change significantly (about 10nm)
according to the LED current in most visible LEDs. The UV LEDs
peak wavelength is almost independent on the driving current.
Line width FWHM is measure spectral width of the LED
light source. The acronym FWHM stands for Full Width
Half Maximum of the LED emission spectrum. Although in some
LEDs relatively narrow FWHM may be observed, still usage of LEDs
for such applications as fluorescence excitation may be problematic
due to the relatively long red tail of the LED emission spectrum.
In order to resolve such problem filtered LED should be used.
Power output is measure the integrated over
all emission wavelengths optical power of the LED light source.
The specified values are measured at the output of 300um core multimode fiber.
Availability is a description of our stock condition
of the specific product.
"On shelf" means the final product
is assembled and ready for shipment from Prizmatix within a
few working days.
"In stock" means that all components are
available in Prizmatix stock but not yet assembled in final
product. The product can be assembled and shipped within about a week.
"Back order" means that one or more components, needed for assembly of
the specified unit, are not currently available in Prizmatix stock.
We will purchase the components and assemble the product within about 3 weeks from the arrival of your order.
Reciprocal LED Light Source
In the reciprocal LED light source the LED is permanently
glued into the female SMA connector. The reciprocal LED
light source is connected to external fiber network by this
SMA connector. The reciprocal LED light source is assembled in small
convenient package that includes LED current regulator / driver. The
LED unit comprises standard DC jack connector for connection of DC power supply.
